You will learn how to clean messy data, uncover trends that others miss, and present your findings in clear, visually stunning charts that stakeholders love. Whether you want to improve your current job performance or pivot into a high-paying data career, this is your foundation.

Students will learn to

Master PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and conditional formatting to manipulate data fast.

Learn the universal language of databases. You will be able to "ask" a database for exactly the information you need.

Utilize tools like Microsoft Power BI to transform rows of numbers into engaging, interactive charts and graphs.

Learn the art of "scrubbing" data—fixing errors and removing duplicates so your analysis is accurate.

How to explain what the data means to your boss or client in plain English.

Course Content

This curriculum is designed to be 20% theory and 80% practical application.

The Spreadsheet Ninja (Excel)

Data entry best practices and shortcuts.
Formulas for business (IF, COUNTIF, INDEX-MATCH).
Analyzing large datasets with PivotTables and Slicers.

Talking to Databases (SQL Basics)

Understanding relational databases.
Writing queries: SELECT, FROM, WHERE.
Filtering and sorting data for reports.

Visualizing Success (Power BI)

Connecting data sources.
Building your first interactive dashboard.
Choosing the right chart (Bar vs. Line vs. Pie) for the right message.

Capstone Project

Real-World Scenario: You will act as a Junior Analyst for a fictional retail company.
Task: Analyze sales data to identify the best-selling products and regions.
Deliverable: A polished dashboard and a 5-minute presentation of your recommendations.

Requirements

No coding background needed.
No advanced math needed. If you can do basic arithmetic (add, subtract, percentage), you are good to go.
Hardware: A Windows laptop is highly recommended (Excel and Power BI run best on Windows). Mac users can join but may need specific workarounds.
Software: Microsoft Excel (2016 or later) and Power BI Desktop (Free version).
